How It All Began

Hi everyone! Today, I wanted to share a bit about my personal journey into the world of photography, specifically newborn photography. Like many moms, after the arrival of my second daughter, Presley, in 2021, I found myself glued to my camera, capturing every precious moment of those early days.

Now, I'd always been interested in photography. Ever since I was a kid, I'd tinker with point-and-shoots, and in my teen years entry level DSLR cameras. But with Presley... something shifted. I wasn't just taking snapshots anymore, I was actively trying to tell a story – a story of pure, brand new love, of tiny fingers and toes, of sleepy yawns and those first precious snuggles.

Learning the Ropes (and Aperture!)

At first, I was armed with an entry-level crop sensor DSLR, a good dose of enthusiasm, and a whole lot to learn! I dove headfirst into understanding the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) – the foundation of any good photograph. My living room and backyard became my studio as I practiced capturing my kids in all sorts of lighting conditions, indoor and outdoor.

A Spark Ignited: Discovering Newborn Photography

But then, I stumbled upon the world of newborn photography, and let me tell you, it was a whole new level of magic! The artistry of capturing those delicate features, the perfect swaddles, the serene expressions – I was hooked.

Safety First, Cuteness Second

Of course, newborn photography is about so much more than just aesthetics. Safety is paramount. So, I dedicated myself to researching and learning all the essential newborn posing techniques and safety protocols. It's a delicate balance – creating beautiful images while ensuring the baby's comfort and well-being comes first and foremost.

This journey has been an incredible learning experience, filled with challenges and triumphs. From mastering lighting setups to reading those sleepy newborn cues, every session is a chance to grow and refine my skills.

More Than Just a Photographer, a Mom with a Camera

But what truly sets Eden's Focus apart is the heart behind the lens. As a mom of three myself, I understand the fleeting nature of those early days. My passion lies in capturing not just a picture, but a memory, a feeling – the overwhelming love for this tiny miracle that has entered your life.

This is just the beginning of my photographic adventure, and I can't wait to see where it takes me. If you're expecting a little one, or know someone who is, I'd love to chat about capturing those magical first moments for you at Eden's Focus.
